Copying a masterpiece is very important in learning Chinese painting. Through the frequent copying, students will understand the structure and the composition of a painting. This will allow the students to have the needed know how to create their own work. Ms Pau Mo Ching demonstrated how this could be done by her work “Wintersweet and Nandina in the snow”. This painting accentuates the characteristic of Wintersweet: It blossoms in the coldest months of the year and grows even tougher and stronger in the harsh weather.
